A 100% technical path

Sylvain Pelletier, an electrical engineer by training, opened the doors of Métier Plus in 1993, when he was General Manager of Gastier.

Initially, Métier Plus was created for a very specific purpose: to meet the labour needs of Gastier customers not covered by collective bargaining agreements in the construction industry. At the time, the recruitment service covered specialized labor (electricians, plumbers, mechanics, etc.) as well as support staff (buyers, estimators, coordinators, etc.).

Thanks to its strong expertise in technical trades, Métier Plus got off to a flying start, winning contracts with major firms such as Merck Frosst, Kraft and Pratt & Whitney. The Métier Plus team helped these industry leaders with their temporary manpower recruitment needs.

Métier Plus, in good hands

From a young age, Roxane has known that she would be the company’s successor. Following in her father’s footsteps and experiencing every position within the company, she consolidated her learning by completing a Bachelor of Administration in Management at HEC and entering the G3 program at the École d’Entrepreneurship de Beauce in 2015.

Since 2014, the transition and succession plan has been implemented gradually, leading up to the complete buyout in 2021. Accompanied by business coaches via GroupeTec and the Groupement des chefs, she was able to take over the reins of the company without causing concern among Métier Plus customers and employees.

To ensure a smooth transition, Roxane decided to involve the company’s operations manager, Pascal Leduc, in the succession plan and the takeover of the company’s shareholder base.

New divisions

Alongside the establishment of Métier Plus, and to specifically cater to the construction sector, Métier Plus launched the Métier Plus Construction division, thereby differentiating their two primary areas of activity. The team remains committed to addressing the recruitment needs of both the construction and non-construction sectors, though now through two distinct entities.

The Métier Plus International division, created in 2019, serves all Quebec companies, not just those in the Greater Metropolitan area. The company offers a turnkey service, from needs analysis and international recruitment to the reception and integration of candidates.

In 2023, the Admin Plus division was created to meet the growing needs of the company’s customers in terms of recruitment for administrative professions.

Since its inception in 1993, the family-owned enterprise has consistently grown stronger. Over the years, investments have been channeled into expanding the operations team, updating and enhancing software and hardware, and launching a new website. Métier Plus has witnessed remarkable expansion, with its workforce tripling in size over the past three years. To accommodate and sustain this impressive growth, Métier Plus made the strategic decision to relocate to a larger office space, effectively doubling its operational capacity to support future development.
